It’s October Festival Time!

With October comes cool weather. Also, a lot of festivals and celebrations are associated with October. Here are some in the Ulster County area that may interest you. Most of them happen to be on October 1, so you can read about them and decide which one(s) interest you the most.

Hudson Valley Garlic Festival

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties sponsors this event, which is dedicated to garlic. It won Hudson Valley Magazine’s Best of Hudson Valley award in 2015. Here’s a link to the information.

Annual Marbletown Founders’ Day Celebration

This gala, held at the Ulster County Historical Society/Bevier House, is a rich assortment of activities that relate to the era of the town’s founding, and its development. There will be lectures on various topics, demonstrations of the period’s skills and crafts, and, of course, lots of food. The kids will love the scavenger hunts and other events! Ashokan Watershed Family Fun and Fish Day

This was actually rescheduled from earlier because of poor weather. It’s a day filled with fun mixed with learning about the environment. Here’s the link.

Heart of the Hudson Valley Bounty Festival

This is an event with something for everyone. Of course, agriculture features prominently, not only with fresh produce, but with the other aspects of working the land. Fresh baked breads and other goodies, local cheeses, wines, and farming implements are all part of this festival.

That’s not all, though. You’ll be surprised at the variety of activities at this festival. Here’s a link to the events of the day.

Fall Foliage Half-Marathon

If you’re a runner or a walker, you can enjoy this event. Here’s a link to how you can register.
